15 March 2021
Here we are, into March and as yet, still unable to perform treatments or practicals due to the second Covid lockdown. I’ve updated the available treatments below for when we open, and training practicals that will now be allowed to go ahead when salons have the green light.
10 September 2020
Due to the Scottish decision to make face coverings mandatory in Scotland, treatments which require the removal of face coverings cannot be carried out and are against the law. These include facials, spray tans and lower face waxing. As facials were our most popular treatments on offer, there have had to be many changes. Some treatments can be modified, however, we are limiting treatments at present to:
Available Treatments:
- Mediation
- Reflexology
- Reiki
- Reiki with Hand and Foot Massage Elements
- Indian Head Massage
- Ear Candling
- LVL Lashes (Lash Lift)
We may add treatments as time goes on. As part of a change, we will be putting the two websites together, to allow for ease of updating and adding new information. The web addresses will still continue to work for both, with one forwarding to the other.
While training courses can all still go ahead for the theory, for training courses that require models to remove a covering on the lower face, some practicals cannot be carried out at present. We are awaiting confirmation from the Scottish Government to find out potential for continuing training.
Training practicals that will go ahead are:
- Reflexology
- Body Massage
- Indian Head Massage
- Hot Stone Massage
- Lash Lift and Tint
- Ear Candling
- Facials
Spray tanning and waxing practicals will return as soon as the Government lifts the ban on removing face coverings for treatments of any kind in beauty salons.
New courses will be added later this year, including manicure, pedicure and gel polish. Keep checking back for their availability.
23rd June 2020
Due to requests from clients, the following still applies in Scotland.
When Will Salons in Scotland Open?
Hairdressers and salons are still closed. While training customers can buy and complete their theory online, practicals can not be carried out until we open again.
The Scottish Government may make a decision on the 2nd July, as to the likely timescale for opening beauty and therapy salons, but even though English hairdressers can work from the 4th July, beauty and therapy treatments will currently still not be allowed, and there is no current indication of when our industry may open in either Scotland or England.
The ongoing closure for beauty and holistic treatments and salons will still be in force, for salons, home businesses and mobile treatments in this area.
When we are given a date to open back up, we look forward to welcoming you back to Sanctuary and will update this page.
What Treatments Will Be Allowed?
There is currently no guidance on what treatments will be allowed when the industry first reopens.
How Will Treatments Work?
There will be some changes. You may not take a friend or family member into the salon with you, unless agreed in advance and safe measures in place. There will be no walk-in facilities. All treatments will be by appointment only.
You will be asked to sanitise your hands on arrival, and at frequent times during your appointment.
You will be asked to wear a clean mask provided by us, during your time in the salon, and given a specific place or box to put your possessions. Your therapist will be wearing a face shield during your treatment.
Much apologies, but we will likely be unable to provide water after a treatment. Please bring a bottle of water with you if you think you will require one, or for all therapy treatments.
How Will I Pay?
Payment will preferably be via card machine for treatments, or direct bank transfer or secure SMS link for training, although if you pay in person, card payment is fine. You will receive a text or e-mail receipt for your payment.
